Privacy Policy

Last updated September 27, 2026

Vehicare is built so that I never see your data. This page says exactly what goes where, in plain words.

Your data is yours

Vehicare doesn’t collect or share any personal information with me. Everything you create — vehicles, visits, odometer readings, the invoices themselves — is stored in your own iCloud account and kept in sync across your devices using Apple’s CloudKit. I have no access to it.

There is no Vehicare account to create, and no sign-in.

How invoices are read

When you import an invoice, Apple Intelligence reads it on your device.

If you turn on “Refine invoices with Apple’s servers” in Vehicare’s settings, an invoice your device can’t finish reading can get help from Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. Vehicare sends it the text your device read — never the invoice’s pages — and Private Cloud Compute doesn’t store or share it. The option is off unless you turn it on.

Either way, the invoice is only saved to your own iCloud account.

Invoices you send me

If Vehicare reads an invoice wrong, you can email it to me from the form where you review it. The email is written in your own mail app and sent from your own address, and nothing leaves until you send it. The app itself never sends me anything.

The email carries the invoice and a file with what Vehicare read from it, the form as you corrected it, the app’s version, your system’s version and your language. The invoice includes whatever is printed on it: usually your name, address and phone number, and your vehicle’s VIN and plate.

I use it only to make Vehicare read invoices better. Unless you let me keep it to check future versions against, I delete it once I’ve looked into it. Either way, write to me and I’ll delete it.

Vehicle details and logos

To fill in a vehicle’s make, model and trim, Vehicare asks my server at vehicare.app when you enter a VIN or pick a year, make and model. It also asks for the logo of a vehicle’s make. The request carries only that VIN, selection or make — no account, no device identifier, nothing else about you.

My server passes vehicle lookups on to CarAPI, a vehicle-data service, and caches the answers. Like any web server, the host (Vercel) keeps short-lived request logs, which include the VIN and your IP address. I only look at them to fix problems, and I never tie them to anyone.

Links to your vehicles and workshops

When you add a service to your calendar or a workshop to your contacts, Vehicare puts a link back to it there, beginning with vehicare.app. The link carries only a random identifier; what it points at stays in your own iCloud account.

On a device with Vehicare, the link opens the app and never reaches my server. Anywhere else, it opens a page on this website that invites you to get Vehicare. That page isn’t counted by Vercel Web Analytics; like any request, it appears in the host’s short-lived logs.

The free version’s ad card

The free version shows one small card for another independent app, from Kickstart Exchange, a cross-promotion exchange built for indie developers. It’s gone the moment you buy.

To pick an app you can actually install, and to count how often each card is shown and tapped, the card sends Kickstart Exchange details about the app, never about you: that it’s Vehicare and which version, the platform it runs on, the country of your App Store, and whether the card was shown, tapped or reported. To check that it’s running in a genuine copy of the app, it also sends Apple’s signed record that the app came from the App Store, which Kickstart Exchange checks and then discards.

None of this identifies you or your device, none of it is used to track you, and Kickstart Exchange keeps its records of which cards were shown and tapped for about 30 days.

Kickstart Exchange’s privacy notice

No analytics or trackers in the app

Apart from the ad card’s counts above, the Vehicare app has no analytics, no advertising identifiers and no third-party trackers.

This website

This website counts its visits with Vercel Web Analytics, so I can see which pages are read. For each page view it records the page, the site you came from, your approximate location, and your browser, operating system and device type. On the beta page, it also counts clicks on the link to TestFlight.

It sets no cookies. Visits are grouped using a hash of your request that is discarded after 24 hours, and nothing it records is tied to you or your IP address. Only visits to these web pages are counted; the app’s vehicle lookups, and the pages its links open, are not.

Purchases

Purchases go through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; I never see your payment details or your Apple Account.

The purchase is checked on your device, with Apple’s StoreKit. Nothing about it is sent to me.

Deleting your data

Delete a vehicle or a visit in Vehicare and it’s removed from iCloud on all your devices. To remove everything at once, delete Vehicare’s data from your iCloud storage settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
